Become a Pro Scuba Diver
Our Divemaster Internship Program is for non-professional divers who want to pursue a career in the recreational scuba diving industry.
The program will qualify you, at the end of the season, as a SSI Divemaster – the first professional level qualification. Our program works like this: in exchange for working for us for the summer season, our interns get their dive education – all the way up to Divemaster – for free.
Duties of a Divemaster intern include all aspects of the dive industry from assisting on the dive boat with courses and guided dives, filling and carrying scuba tanks, servicing equipment, and equipping divers, to working in the dive shop in sales or office duties. As their education progresses, interns take on duties such as leading groups of qualified divers and assisting instructors with courses.
The learning curve for the courses is quite steep and there’s quite a lot of theory to study in addition to the day-to-day job, so self-motivation is essential. In addition to diving experience, desirable – though not essential – attributes of interns are a full driving license, spoken European languages, media, design and computer skills, and sales/retail skills.
While we pay for interns’ accommodation and food, they need to pay their own travel costs to Greece.
If you have any questions or queries, please don’t hesitate to contact us. To apply, please send a short CV with a recent photo (showing any easily visible tattoos) and references, along with a covering letter describing why you want to become a Divemaster and take part in this adventure. Here’s our email: bluelagoondiveschool@gmail.com.

Testimonies
Being able to scuba dive on the same island everyday has been incredible. I learned how to navigate each dive site, knowing where to turn the corner, and where each specific rock was. I came back and said hello to the same octopus many times a week. Made friends with the puffer fish, and just became completely at home under the water. I have spent 64 hours completely underwater, and I think that is insane. Truly the closest to being a mermaid that you can.Becoming a divemaster has been one of the most rewarding and difficult experiences I have had. The name of the game is learning as much as possible, and trying like heck to not make the same mistakes twice. I can say probably every day I did something wrong, but I don’t think I did that same wrong thing ever again. Being okay with not being perfect and learning from the mini failures was super hard at first because I’m type A and strive for perfection, and honestly I’ve never had an experience where I haven’t pretty easily picked up the skill and executed it well enough. Scuba diving, especially working with newbie scuba divers, is a whole nother ball game (however there was never a safety issue, Will and Jackie were there to be sure of that).
I’ve learned many things but the noteworthy ones are:
-Being prepared is the best way you can mitigate mistakes and emergencies. If you have absolutely everything you need gear wise, spares, etc, then you are ready if something happens, and it’s no longer an emergency because you were prepared.
-Small problems can snowball into bigger problems, so fix and manage the small things before they turn into that.
-Rely on your team, and be okay with asking for help.
Thank you @willzoyroydis and @jackie1993614 -the power couple behind @bluelagoondivers for instructing me and being there for me, through the past months, I am eternally grateful for you and I’ll be back don’t worry. ❤️🐙 Kristin T.
